Inclusion & Diversity

Human Potential For All

We are on a never-ending journey to seek out opportunities to unlock potential in ourselves and others and to create a more diverse and inclusive running community.

The goal is zero.

The truth is, we’re far from it. We all play a critical role in the fight for social justice and recognize that it will not be a sprint, but a lifelong marathon that we all must continually train for every day.

Join us in the move toward zero.

We started by taking a stand. Since then, we’ve:

Expanded our community by welcoming new advocacy partners.

Donated volunteer time and monetary support to unlock human potential.

Joined the Running Industry Diversity Coalition to support their goal of creating a more equitable and inclusive running industry.

Committed to diversifying our community both inside the walls of our business and with those who represent our brand.

Worked with inspiring organizations to become a stronger and more actionable ally to all communities.

Launched the Altra Diversity and Inclusion Commitee outlining our brand’s Social Impact aspirational roadmap.

When We Listen, We Learn.

We will continue to listen to ourselves and to others.

Show up for yourself and support those around you. Remember, our goal is to unlock this potential in ourselves and others.

When we’re all working together as the best versions of ourselves, we can feel empowered both individually and as a community.

There's always room for growth and improvement, so let’s continue to move forward together.

Potential has no finish line.

Our Partners

Together with our partners, we’re constantly stiving to create progress. Our ever-expanding group of partnerships help fuel a more inclusive running community. We’re thankful to work with such amazing groups of people and look forward to continuing to break barriers together.

RIDC

We are a proud member of the Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC), a coalition of companies, organizations, and runners working together to increase diversity and fight the systemic racism that exists within the running industry and running community.

&MOTHER

&Mother is an organization started by Altra Elite Athlete Alysia Montaño to help break barriers that limit a woman’s choice to pursue and thrive in both career and motherhood.

Trail Sisters

The Trail Sisters community was created to constitute for an equitable outdoors both recreationally and throughout the industry. We partnered with them for 2,021 hours of trail cleanup to help maintain the trails we all love.

Still I Run

Still I Run was founded by Sasha Wolff in 2016, however the idea for the group came to her a few years earlier. In 2011, she was hospitalized for anxiety and depression and one of the coping mechanisms she learned while getting help was the concept of creating healthy routines and habits. One day, shortly after discharge from the hospital, Sasha put on a very neglected pair of running shoes and decided to go for a short walk. That walk felt so great, that she kept doing it on a regular basis and eventually started to go faster and longer. She hasn’t stopped running for her mental health since.

Freestone Endurance

Freestone Endurance strives to remove financial barriers and gender inequality in the ultra trail racing industry, specifically for newer runners and BIPOC/Women/LGBTQIA+. The organization awards racing scholarships to Colorado runners in chasing 30K to 50K goals and laying the groundwork tackling the 100-mile distance.
